An investigation into the commons reveals the wide-ranging spectrum of definitions and applications of this concept that exist across Europe. Yet from the numerous local initiatives, social movements, and governance models associated with this term – is it possible to identify the outline of a commons-based approach that could form the basis of a broad cross-societal response to the failures of the current system?
This Handbook was developed by the Green European Foundation together with representatives of Green foundations across Europe (Finland, Czech Republic, Hungary and Austria) with the aim of sharing experience and providing tips on organising trainings for Green activists.

National Green foundations, the Green Group in the European Parliament and the European Green Party are GEF's main stakeholders. National Green foundations are active in engaging citizens in political dialogue in their respective national contexts.
Our European level stakeholders are partners in creating a European-wide Green debate. GEF aims to be a platform for exchange and co-operation at European level. Highlighting some of our partner foundations' news and events is a first step in enhancing this network and enabling exchange.
