Populism in political discourse
A common feature of European politics in recent years has been the rise of right-wing populist parties. This has been a worrying trend across the continent; in countries as Finnland, the Netherlands or Hungary. This event, organised by GEF, with support of Ceratonia Foundation, will discuss whether this phenomenon is here to stay, and what its consequences are for the future of European democracy.
The rise of right-wing populism is not an isolated phenomenon but part of a larger development on a European scale. What were the driving forces behind the rise of right-wing populism and how has the political landscape changed with and through it? Are populist parties here to stay? How does their rise affect European democray? And how should Green and progressive parties (re)act?
This is an event in the GEF series of debates on the issue of right-wing populism following the book publication "Populism in Europe".
