How can cities, villages and the local communities meet global challenges? This question will be the core of this years’ Summer University of GEF’s Catalan partner foundation.
Fundació Nous Horitzons will bring together local politicians, Green party members and interested young people to exchange ideas and have Green practical debates.
This year’s edition of the Summer School will focus on the challenge of how a democratic future in Europe can be guaranteed, and how an open-minded society, which is ready to manage the challenges we are facing, can be upheld. The Summer University will be opened with a panel discussion on threats to European democracy and the rise of right-wing populism. The different workshops will each treat aspects of local institutions handling global issues and will include the European point of view by either hosting representatives from the European institutions or NGOs, which are active EU-wide.
For the first time, Fundació Nous Horitzons’ Summer University is aiming to host stakeholders from other political movements, like “Barcelona en común”, “Equo” and “En común Podem”, to enrich the exchange of opinions and share knowledge.
The results of the Summer University will be disseminated to a wider audience and made accessible in English afterwards.
