After two successful editions in 2015 and 2016 the Green Summer Academy will take place again this year with a focus on Green cooperation among the Visegrad countries as those have many challenges specific to post-communist societies in common.

Based on the Polish, Czech, and Hungarian Greens’ cooperation in the European Green Party as Visegrad working group, the Green Summer Academy 2017 will invite Greens from these countries while trying to also reach out to Ukrainian Greens to pave the way for a common transboundary Summer Academy in the future. The invitation of urban movements, NGOs, grass roots activists and other civil society stakeholders will reinforce direct cooperation and facilitate possible coalitions.
The Summer Academy will tackle a broad variety of European topics, such as the success of far-right movements and dangers to democracy, women’s rights, trade policies, environmental issues, etc. in different sessions such as trainings, debates, plenary discussions, but also nature expeditions. Furthermore, it will bring the local community and the Summer Academy’s participants together in a public event. The Summer Academy aims to create a platform to form new (political) collaborations, strengthen the European network of Greens by bringing together representatives from various countries, in particular from the Visegrad countries.
