The Green New Deal is the Green’s answer to the triple economic, environmental and social crises that grip Europe. It proposes a transition to an economy and society that is fairer and sustainable by urgently investing in the green economy and rethinking many ways in which our economy works. In order to make visible the many good proposals, as well as the concrete realisation of the Green New Deal, the GND website was created.
The website, managed by the Green European Foundation, and bringing together materials of Green foundations, the Greens/EFA group in the European Parliament and the European Green Party, explores the transformations that make up the Green New Deal, by pointing to research and analyses on the topic. Crucially, the website also includes a ‘best practice’ section, to highlight projects that are implementing these practices across Europe.
The website has already become a hub of Green activity. Some of the most recent articles include a video highlighting Green jobs, a report from the OECD on the environmental outlook for 2050, ideas for a green economy from a French-based research foundation, as well as a working paper by Green MEP Sven Giegold on the need for implementing the GND to stabilise the euro.
