Strømmen, who also contributed to the GEF publication Populism in Europe, is a specialist on extreme-right movements throughout Europe. Particularly after the politically motivated mass murder in Strømmen's home country Norway in 2011, Strømmen has become a much quoted political commentator.

The rise of the populist-right continues to be a focus on GEF's work in 2012 with a discussion last month in Malta. Meanwhile a German translation of GEF's book Populism in Europe will be launched next month at the Austrian Green Summer Academy.
