SUMMARY:GEF Talks at Ecotransformation 2026 (Oucmanice)
DESCRIPTION:How can European democracies respond to the rise of authoritarianism\, technological disruption and growing inequalities? Join the GEF Talks at the Czech Green Summer School Ecotransformation 2026 for a day of discussions exploring democracy\, technology\, political resilience and the future of Green politics in Europe.\nAbout the Event\nGEF Talks is a special contribution by the Green European Foundation to the Ecotransformation 2026 Green Summer School\, organised by the Institute for Active Citizenship in cooperation with Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung Prague and the Green European Foundation. Taking place from 6–9 August 2026 at Ekocentrum Paleta in Oucmanice\, the summer school brings together activists\, local and regional politicians\, academics\, civil society organisations and engaged citizens from across Czechia and Europe for four days of political education\, debate and practical exchange. \nThe sixth edition of the summer school explores the links between ecological transformation and democratic resilience at a time when Europe is facing growing political polarisation\, technological change and mounting pressure on democratic institutions. Through debates\, workshops and practical sessions\, participants will examine how societies can respond to these challenges while advancing a just and sustainable future. \nGEF Talks day\, taking place on Friday\, 7 August 2026\, contributes a distinctly European perspective to these discussions\, by bringing together Green politicians\, researchers and experts from across Europe. Across the day\, discussions will examine the future of democracy after authoritarianism\, the need for European technological sovereignty\, the regulation of digital platforms and artificial intelligence\, and the growing influence of oligarchic power on democratic systems. SUMMARY:GEF Talks at Green Academy (Komiža)
DESCRIPTION:What does it mean to build counter-power in a time of monsters? As Europe faces growing insecurity\, climate collapse\, democratic backsliding and profound shifts in the global order\, the Green European Foundation joins the 10th edition of the Green Academy with a series of GEF Talks exploring the political ideas and strategies needed to shape a Green response.\nAbout the event\nFrom 21–26 August 2026\, the Green European Foundation joins the Institute for Political Ecology and partners for the 10th edition of the Green Academy\, taking place on the island of Vis\, Croatia\, under the title “Life in the Time of Monsters: Building Counter-Power”. \nEstablished in 2010\, the Green Academy is an educational and discussion platform centred on political ecology\, bringing together debates on degrowth and post-growth\, the commons\, ecological transition\, municipalism and public services. Over the years\, it has become an international meeting point where green and progressive scholars\, practitioners\, researchers\, politicians and activists exchange knowledge\, experiences and political strategies. \nWith this tenth edition\, the Green Academy seeks to collectively explore green and left responses to a political moment characterised by growing insecurity\, ongoing wars and conflicts\, climate collapse and profound shifts in the global order. The Academy will provide a space to examine different strands of green-left political thought and action\, and to explore how to build the forms of counter-power needed to inspire\, empower and strengthen progressive politics across Europe. \nThroughout the Academy\, the Green European Foundation will contribute a series of GEF Talks and workshops that connect current Foundation projects with the Academy’s overarching themes. A Participatory Session on Navigating  Power and Anchoring the Transition (EN) \n\nFlorent Marcellesi – Senior EU Consultant\, former Member of the European Parliament and former co-chair of the Spanish Greens Equo\n\nThis interactive GEF Talk presents the framework and first insights of the Green European Foundation’s “Greens in Government” project. The project examines the institutional\, organizational\, and societal anchoring of Green participations in regional and national governments. SUMMARY:The Greenhouse: Training for Activists Alumni Edition
DESCRIPTION:The Greenhouse: Training for Activists is a unique opportunity to connect\, learn and grow as part of a new generation of green and green-minded Europeans leading change in their communities. In this alumni edition of the training\, the Green European Foundation will bring together 15-20 alumni of previous Greenhouse cohorts in Lithuania for 5 days of advanced political reflection\, debate\, and peer-learning between 7-11 October 2026. \nAbout The Alumni Training\nThe Greenhouse is the Green European Foundation’s activist training initiative dedicated to offering political education on Europe\, capacity building for the green movement at large\, and fostering engagement and participation of young leaders and activists across the continent – to support a strong and vibrant European democracy.  This Alumni Training offers space for Greenhouse alumni to sharpen their ideological grounding\, deepen their understanding of the European Green landscape\, debate strategic questions facing the Green movement\, and build lasting relationships across cohorts and borders. The training will take place 07-11 October in Lithuania (venue tbc).\n\n\n\nWhat you can expect\n\n\nAdvanced political reflection and debate — going deeper into the foundational ideological and strategic questions shaping European Green politics today\, and exploring how they play out across different national contexts.\n\n\nHigh-level political input — interactive sessions and debates with experienced Green politicians\, movement organisers\, and political ecology thinkers.\n\n\nExploring the European Green project — a deep dive into what the European Green project can mean in practice and how Green actors can shape political realities across local\, national\, and European levels.\n\n\nA participant-led learning experience — inspired by the principles of non-formal education\, the Alumni Training will rely on your active contribution. You’ll be invited to reflect on the political questions emerging from your own context before arriving\, helping shape discussions and peer learning throughout the programme.\n\n\nConnecting across cohorts — bringing together alumni from the first two editions of the Greenhouse Training and strenthening relationships across Europe.\n\n\nSmall-scale and personalised approach — focus on responding to needs and providing resources and guidance for you to take the next step in your political journey.\n\n\nWho should apply\nPlease note: If you have not participated in a previous edition of The Greenhouse: Training for Activists\, you are not eligible to apply. The next open edition (with participants selected via an open call) of The Greenhouse: Training for Activists will take place in Spring 2027. \n\nThis call is open to alumni of previous Greenhouse editions.
