SUMMARY:EGAT Czech Republic (Akumulátor): '23-'24 edition
DESCRIPTION:About the event\nSign up for Accumulator and become one of 15 young activists! You don’t need a CV full of experience. What’s important is the motivation to change things around you .During this programme\, you will explore different aspects of politics and activism with experts in green issues\, including journalists\, academics\, experts\, and politicians. We will awake your sense of initiative and support your skills in advocacy\, teamwork\, campaigning\, and work with the media. Together we will go through a whole range of approaches and tools that will help participants do their bit to change the world for the better. It is important for us to connect theory and practice. Besides practical skills\, we will focus on important cross-cutting themes such as climate change\, education\, feminism and more. \nIn addition\, you will become a member of a wide alumni network\, which includes all former participants who today are often engaged in activism\, politics and other exciting projects. Together we organize a big alumni weekend every summer where we get together to share our experiences. \nWe are starting this year’s Accumulator with a weekend at the end of October 2023\, in the spring of 2024 we will meet in Brussels with young people from Finland\, Lithuania\, Latvia\, Spain\, Poland and Croatia who are delving into similar programmes as the Accumulator. \n  \nParticipation Requirements\n\nYou are between 18 – 24 years (recommended)\nYou live in the Czech Republic (but you do not have to have permanent residence in the Czech Republic or Czech citizenship)\nYou are willing to be proactive and participative\nYou have to participate in ALL phases of the training: please check details below.\n\nIf there is any obstacle (for example financial\, or regarding health or language) that could prevent you from participating in the project\, let us know and we will adjust the program and conditions so that you can still participate. The accumulator is an open and inclusive space and all young people are welcome to apply despite their background. \nApply HERE by August 27! \n  \nCost\nOur goal is that all selected applicants are able to participate in the Accumulator\, regardless of financial possibilities. Nevertheless\, we ask for a solidarity fee to be able to fund all the activities. Please consider what your personal financial contribution possibilities are for the realization of the Accumulator. You can let us know the amount of your contribution when filling out the application form HERE. Please note that the amount of the contribution you are able to provide won’t influence the selection process. \n  \nProgram\nThe EGAT Akumulator consists of two weekend trainings and separate preparation for these trainings. It also includes a one-week study trip to Brussels\, which is preceded by the EU for Beginners e-learning course and a preparatory meeting that will take place over a day the week before the visit to Brussels. \n1. Accumulator\, 20 – 22 October 2023\, Veronici Centre\, Hoštětín \nSYSTEM ERROR: How to change it?\nDuring the first weekend\, we will get to know each other and decide how we want the entire Accumulator to work together. We will share our expectations\, fears\, experiences\, and motivations. In short\, we will try to create a safe environment for everyone to feel good and positive about the training.\nWe refer to the time in which we live in different ways. However\, the common denominator is often the word “crisis”. We are talking about a climate\, economic\, global\, energy crisis\, but also a crisis of imagination. During the first weekend training\, we will cover a little bit of all of the above. Through formal and non-formal education methods\, we will try to think together about how individual crises are related to each other and try to examine problems at system level. \nWith a focus on deepening the ability to think systemically\, we will try to understand the basic concepts that we will work with during the following weekends. We will talk\, for example\, about capitalism\, but also globalization and colonialism. \nAt the end of the weekend\, we should have a unified level of knowledge\, clarified shared values and a deepened ability to think systems. \n2. Accumulator\, November 24-26\, 2023\, ČSOP Hostel\, Vlašim \nENVIRONMENTAL MOVEMENT: From where and where? \nFrom theory to practice. First\, we will clarify the theoretical roots of political ecology\, then we dive into activist political practice. Who are the green actors? What and who is involved in the environmental movement? How to become part of the change? We will solve all this during the second weekend together with specific actors from environmental organizations and platforms\, for example Greenpeace\, Fridays for Future or Re-set. In addition to activism\, we will also explore the waters of politics with members of three political parties – Pirates\, Greens and Future. \nFinally\, we will focus on creating campaigns. What to watch out for? What is the good practice of well-known environmental organizations? \n3. Preparation for a study stay in Brussels\, March 2024\, one day (online or offline) \nThe main topic of the third weekend will be the European Union. The Impact Europe e-learning course will allow us not to have to deal with how the EU works all weekend\, and we can then go straight to a critical discussion about its pros and cons and the relationship between its policies and the policies of the Czech Republic. We will talk about how political processes at the national and European level can be realistically influenced. At this meeting\, which will take place online or offline\, we will share practical information about the study trip to Brussels. At the same time\, we will open here some of the topics that are dealt with at the European level by experts\, MEPs and activists that we will meet in Brussels. \n4. (BST – Brussels Study Trip) Study stay in Brussels\, spring 2024 \nEUROPEAN GREEN ACTIVIST’S TRAINING – EGAT \nAccumulator takes place in various forms simultaneously in Finland\, Croatia\, Spain\, the Czech Republic\, Poland\, Lithuania and Latvia. Participants from these countries will meet for a one-week excursion in Brussels to share knowledge from individual trainings and take a look behind the scenes at the activities of the institutions of the European Union. We will visit the European Parliament and meet people who work in various positions in Brussels. Even with several members of the European Parliament. \nBut Brussels is not only about the EU\, and we will have the chance to learn about local initiatives and how grassroots activism is done in a place where European politics intersects with Belgian politics. \n  \nWho will train me and how?\nNon-formal education lecturers Zuzana Kašparová and Miriam Macurová will guide you through the training and excursion to Brussels. Both have been active in the field of alternative education for several years and educate young people to take an active approach to public affairs. They themselves are socially engaged in the topics that will be discussed at the trainings. Both were members of the non-profit educational organization Be International. Zuzana is dedicated to the feminist project Vyhonit dábla\, she is the author of the program “Na zachodce” for CT\, she is involved in the activist crip collective and lectures on a freelance basis\, for example sex education or intercultural competence. Miriam works as a campaigner and expert on European climate policy at Greenpeace\, where she is also part of the environmental education program. The program is thus created on the basis of real experiences from the public space. \nThe program itself is based on meetings with people from practice\, i.e. politicians\, journalists\, experts and activists\, who will introduce the participants to politics and public events based on their experience. \nIn addition to workshops and guest lectures\, the program is based on informal education. His methods are based on working in groups with an emphasis on individual initiative. So what you get from the Accumulator depends on how much you put into the training. An important part of the educational process is the sharing of experiences and reflection. \nIn informal education\, they learn by experiencing and trying new things\, which not only leads to new information\, but also to the acquisition of practical skills and thinking about values. It is not graded\, it does not know the role of the teacher\, it is voluntary and the participants are themselves responsible for what they learn. \nDeveloping the ability to work in a group is essential for the Accumulator. Although everyone takes away newly acquired skills and knowledge\, we believe that the ability to collaborate collectively is crucial when trying to change the world around us and when involving other people in future activities. \n  \n\nThis EGAT programme is organised by Green European Foundation with the support of Institute of Active Citizenship and with the financial support of the European Parliament to the Green European Foundation. \n

SUMMARY:EGAT Latvia: 2023-2024 edition
DESCRIPTION:About the event\nThe youth organization “Protests” in cooperation with the Freedom and Solidarity Fund announces applications for the summer camp “Young Activists Academy” or JAA! It will be a great opportunity for young people to get inspired and prepare for active participation in civil society. \nThe camp will be held on 25-27 in August near Kandava\, Latvia. It is organized as a part of “European Green Activists Training – Latvia”. “Young Activists Academy” will be a 3-day camp\, during which we will introduce young people with little or no activism experience to various NGOs and movements\, such as the Green Movement\, as well as inspire them to actively participate in civil society. We will identify local problems and find ways how we can solve them and become heard at the political level as well. We will learn how the European Union and its institutions work and how you\, as an individual\, can be heard in it. We will identify  the threats to European democracy and how we can prevent them while also promoting an inclusive\, feminist and green society. \nProject “JAA” is organized by the “Freedom and Solidarity Fund” in cooperation with the youth organization “Protests”. The project is funded by the Green European Foundation through the “European Green Activists training” project. \n  \nWho can apply?\nWe are looking for young people between the ages of 15 and 30 who speak and understand the Latvian language. We will give preference to younger young people from the regions of Latvia and/or with less experience of activism\, but we invite everyone who is interested in the topics raised to apply. \n  \nPractical information\n  \nThe camp will be held in Latvian. \nThere is no fee to participate. The organizers will pay the travel and accommodation costs of the participants. \nThe application is open until August 14 at 23.59! Apply by clicking here. \nAfter the summer camp\, there will also be a follow-up event\, where we will continue to develop and explore activism basing on the already built knowledge. Since this event is part of the “EGAT” project\, the camp participants will have the opportunity to go to Brussels next March for a 3-day training organized by the European Green Fund. \nIn case of questions\, contact the coordinator Marta Bogustova by email at marta.bogustova@hotmail.com. \nThe project is financed by the Green European Foundation within the framework of the “EGAT” project. \n  \n\nThis EGAT programme is organised by Green European Foundation with the support of Protests and with the financial support of the European Parliament to the Green European Foundation. \n

SUMMARY:Feminists in the Environmental Movement: Training Series
DESCRIPTION:About the event\nBeing a feminist in the environmental movement requires understanding the wider context of the concept as well as having the courage and ability to charge your mental and emotional batteries in order to face the many struggles. This short\, empowering online training will gather feminists from different European countries to reflect on their experiences and deepen their understanding of key feminist challenges at the European level. \nParticipants get the opportunity to:  \n\nNetwork with other feminists from different European countries \nShare experiences\, learn from each other and guest speakers \nVisualise together a brighter feminist future for Europe and a feminist Green Deal \n\nLearning objectives for the coaching:  \n\nApplying feminist perspectives in diverse situations and reflect on one’s position in relation to other people and society \nIdentifying connections to feminism in different areas of politics as well as in human and non-human life \nGaining methodological skills by familiarising with two participatory methods (Timeout – dialogue method and Futures Frequency – workshop method) that you can use in your community / activism \nUnderstanding the main feminist challenges at European and national level\, and dealing with backlash \n\nProgramme\nThis training consists of three online coaching sessions.   \nPre task: Get familiar with GEF’s Green Feminism e-course. Members will get orientation material 5 days before the first training session.   \n1st session / Fri 17 Feb 17-20:00 (CET):   Key Feminist Struggles in Europe and Nationally  \nShort introduction to the topic and facilitated dialogue between participants through Timeout – dialogue method. This first session is dedicated to experience sharing by deep listening and mindful speaking.  \n2nd session / Fri 24 Feb 17-20:00 (CET): Advocating Green Feminism in EU  \nIntroduction to the topic by guest speaker (TBA). SUMMARY:Reporting for a Green and Feminist Europe
DESCRIPTION:About the Event\nDebates and decision-making around the climate crisis too often revolve around the voices and experiences of a limited few\, depriving us of crucial perspectives in national and European conversations. Moreover\, we know that the effects of the climate crisis have a disproportionate impact on specific demographics\, such as women and  rural communities.   \nThis training will provide selected young Green feminists with skills and knowledge on fair and ethical reporting\, writing\, and research; as well as fostering creativity\, empathising and recognising the intersections of gender and climate. Aimed at participants in Central and Eastern Europe\, the training will also tackle press freedom more broadly\, exploring some hot topics and discussing what the EU can\, does\, and should do to in this domain.   \nParticipants will use the skills and knowledge they have acquired to go back to their home countries and crease inspiring\, professional content which will reflect stories of those who are often forgotten about in discussions of climate change.  \nContext:\nThis training is part of Feminists in the Environmental Movement\, a GEF transnational project that seeks to stimulate conversations around (the intersections of) gender and environmental justice across Europe. The project is implemented with the support of Visio (Finland)\, Green Economics Institute (UK)\, Oikos (Belgium)\, Strefa Zieleni (Poland)\, Green Thought Association (Turkey)\, and CDNEE.   \nProgramme\nFull programme to be announced shortly!  \nPracticalities\nWhen? March 7th\, 2022 (12:00 – 20:00 GET)  \nWhere? Tbilisi\, Georgia  \nWho? This is a closed training session for already selected participants. The represented countries are: Croatia\, Belarus/Latvia\, Bosnia and Herzegovina\, Czech Republic\, Serbia\, Turkey\, and Russia.  \n  \n\n  \nThis training day is organised by the Green European Foundation\, with the support of Cooperation and Development Network Eastern Europe (CDNEE) and the financial support of the European Parliament to the Green European Foundation.

SUMMARY:Green Central-Eastern Network
DESCRIPTION:About the event\nThe Green European Foundation is organising an event tailored to those who have the long-term goal to ignite political change in their countries and advance the green movement locally. Specifically\, the event will gather representatives of national political foundations and equivalent organisations from Eastern European countries where GEF has established partners as well as representatives from organisations that have a potential to help in building sustainable green movements. Gender balance will be observed as a key element in moderation and debate. We are looking at a balanced participation of both EU and non-EU countries \nObjectives \n\nConnect: we will foster exchanges on who are the agents of change in the region\, and how they work; \n\n\nLearn: we will address the challenges green organisations are facing\, as well as their successes. We’ll have honest conversations on what works and what doesn’t.  \n\n\nBuild: building on the two objectives above\, we will identify what the network can achieve as a community\, and what the next steps should be.  \n\nContext\nThe Green European Foundation is committed to contribute to the advancement of the “green wave” in Central and Eastern Europe\, in coordination with the efforts made by the other members of the European Green family. We want to reinforce and enlarge the green political movement and its impact in those regions of Europe.   \nIn this context\, we are launching a Green Central-Eastern Network\, aiming at facilitating a network of green political foundations and equivalent organisations from Central and Eastern Europe and allow them a space to co-create a framework of functioning; building an understanding of how shared history\, political context\, and topics can create opportunities for common work; Inspiring action by sharing successes and strategies for achieving them and methods of combatting common threats and challenges. This online event will serve as a preliminary work assessing the needs and strengths of the organisations in the region. The input gathered will impulse the networking event in Vienna next year. \nPracticalities\nDate: 10 December 2021 \nLocation: Zoom \nIn case of questions\, please contact luka.gudek@gef.eu  \n  \n\nThis event is organised by the Green European Foundation with the financial support of the European Parliament to the Green European Foundation. SUMMARY:Feminist Climate Ambassadors – Bottom-Up Activism
DESCRIPTION:About the Event:\nOur aim is to build bridges across Europe for feminist climate change advocates and activists. This training will equip selected Feminist Climate Ambassadors with the tools needed to get their message through in their own region and media\, to support sustainable and feminist community-level impact across Europe. In addition\, the training provides space for more political level conversation on the intersections of gender and climate change. \nThe theme of the third meeting is bottom-up activism: how can we promote a change towards an equal\, just\, and viable world from the grassroots level upwards? \n\nContext:\nThis training is part of the project Feminists in the Climate Movement\, organised by the Green European Foundation with the support of Visio\, the Green Economics Institute\, Strefa Zieleni\, and Oikos. While the training is for selected participants only\, the project also features a webinar series and summer school\, which are open to the general public. \n\nSpeakers:\nOliver Varmanen – Trans ry (association for the rights of gender minorities)\, Finland \nDevika Partiman – Stem op een Vrouw / Vote for a Woman\, the Netherlands \nTaru Anttonen – Green Women’s Association\, Finland \nLeen Schelfhout – XR Belgium and Citizen’s Spring\, Belgium \nKati Juva – Vihreät De Gröna\, Finland \nFatima Verwijnen – human rights activist and Instagram blogger\, Finland \n\nProgramme: \n10:00-10:05 Welcome \n10:05-10:20 Discussion on assignments \n10:20-11:00 Guest Expert: Oliver Varmanen on Oikeus olla / Right to Be campaign \n\nThe hugely successful Right to Be citizens’ initiative launched in Finland in the beginning of August and achieved the minimum number of signatures in a mere 2 days. It strives to establish a trans law in Finland that respects the fundamental and human rights of all who amend their legal gender. A member of the social media and communications team behind the campaign\, Oliver Varmanen\, joins us to discuss why and how the campaign was put together and why it is so successful.\n\n11:00-11:20 Guest expert: Devika Partiman on Vote for a Woman \n\nVote for a Woman / Stem op een Vrouw dedicates itself to improving women’s political representation and emancipation by\, amongst others\, getting more women elected and politically active. In addition\, the training provides space for more political level conversation on the intersections of gender and climate change. \nThe theme of the second meeting is future. What would our ideal futures look like? What would it take to get there? How do we stay optimistic and focused? \n\nContext:\nThis training is part of the project Feminists in the Climate Movement\, organised by the Green European Foundation with the support of Visio\, the Green Economics Institute\, Strefa Zieleni\, and Oikos. Race is a social construct\, and one that was used to further the colonial project\, in pursuit of ever-growing economic wealth and power. It is essential to identify strategies that dismantle the system of white supremacy in the pursuit of a just transition.” \n\nAs our two previous public webinars have revolved around economics\, climate\, and gender\, Noni Makuyana’s and Gubbi Bola’s work on decolonising economics completes the picture we have received\, and offers an essential perspective to our understanding of just transition.\n\n12:40-13:00 Discussion on assignments \n13:00-15:30 Future Frequency workshop \n\nFuture Frequency is a workshop method which combines future-oriented thinking with change-making.
