DESCRIPTION:About the Event:\nIn every country in every continent\, women are fighting on a global scale to end sexism\, sexist exploitation and oppression. They make their voices heard from the streets to parliament fighting for a world with gender equality\, freedom and free from oppression. \nWe support freedom of sexual orientation\, gender identity\, gender expression and sex characteristics within the framework of gender equality and feminism. We support women who fight to exist in a very patriarchal political scene and who create space for women in politics. Therefore\, the Green European Foundation with the support of Green Thought Association are organising this conference that brings activists\, politicians and academics from different countries together to share their experiences\, to show solidarity with each other and to network. \nContext:\nThis event is part of the GEF project “Gender Equality and Green Politics\,” organised with the support of Green Thought Association. Over the past few months\, we have regularly been gathering a group of Turkish activists\, academics\, and others to learn about and discuss issues of gender equality and feminism through a green lens. The general framework of this session will be provided by Nil Mutluer\, an academic and member of the Green Party in Turkey.\n\nBreak \nSession 2: Women’s struggle in Turkey (TUR\, with ENG translation) \n\nOver the past several months in Turkey\, the feminist agenda has mostly been shaped by the discussions over the Istanbul Convention\, also known as The Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence. Women have been organizing campaigns in order to not lose this Convention. In the second part of the conference\, Begum Basdas will focus on EU policies – with concrete examples from Greece – women and LGBTI + refugees / asylum seekers who are living in crisis conditions. Deniz Bayram will talk about the local ecology struggles and the women’s issue in the climate struggle and Gülnur Aksop will cover latest discussions and feminist movement agenda over the Istanbul Convention. DESCRIPTION:About the Event:\nToday we live in a time of great crisis\, confronted by one of the severest challenges that humanity has ever faced: COVID – 19 is seen as health and ecological consequence of the „business as usual “model that ignored boundaries of environmental capital\, social inequalities and economic unsustainability. The Western Balkans region is affected on many levels: its fragile democracy is deteriorating\, natural resources commodified\, and local communities completely left on their own. There is no time to waste – we need to act now! \nFor four years now\, Green Economy Congress aims to build synergies with actors who are developing positive initiatives in the Western Balkans and EU on a narrative which allows us to have a bigger impact in the society transformation. In 2020. more than ever we need to work together to overcome the crisis. What gives us hope is that all over the region\, citizens are taking direct action – fighting for river conservation\, demanding clean air and pointing out on damaging practices like deforestation\, excessive extractive industry\, unsustainable tourism\, etc. Public policies and action from decision-makers are yet to follow. \nThe coronavirus crisis recovery and EU Green New Deal can be a chance to reshape a sustainable\, inclusive economy\, stimulating industry\, protecting essential biodiversity systems and tackling climate change in Western Balkans – but only if it has a holistic approach. DESCRIPTION:Context:\nThe global health and economic crises are forcing nonprofit organisations in Europe and beyond to adapt to unprecedentedly strenuous conditions. One of the greatest needs for nonprofit organisations will be understanding the evolving political context and continuing to engage with target audiences and deliver high-level content. \nIn response to this challenge\, the Green European Foundation is putting forth a workshop on the challenges of the post-Covid world for NGOs\, aiming to assist civil society actors and grassroots movements working on the topics of education on Europe and European values\, to find solutions to their needs. \nThe workshop will take place on October 23\, 2020\, from 14:00 – 15:30.  \nWorkshop Objectives:\nThroughout the 1.5h workshop\, participants will discuss the current political trends affecting the EU policies on education and culture\, as well the challenges ahead for NGOs in that field and discuss adaptation strategies\, ideas\, plans to continue their work on education on Europe and the promotion of European values in the aftermath of COVID-19. \nFormat: \nThere will be three speakers sharing their insights\, followed by questions from the moderator and audience. The discussion will be followed by open space sessions on topics that the participants will be invited to join\, depending on their interest\, and exchange about best practices and challenges. We aim to have participants representing small and medium-sized non-profits\, activists and representatives of grassroots movements. \nSpeaker:\nDenise Chircop is a policy analyst with the European Parliament Research Service (within the Structural Policy Unit more specifically)\, specialising on the topic of education\, formal and non formal. In the last few months she has studied and written on the impact of Covid-19 on education with briefings with adult learners in the digital world\, education in isolation during the pandemic\, non formal learning. \nDavide Ferrari is the Chief of Research at VoteWatch Europe\, supporting the team with quantitative and qualitative research on voting records in the European Parliament and the European Council\, as well as other EU-related political developments. DESCRIPTION:Context:\nCOVID-19 has exposed the shortcomings of our public systems weakened for decades by those same policies that led to the 2008 economic crisis. From the impacts of climate change and the environmental crisis\, there are important lessons for the future to draw: the first is that the global economic system is leaking through many holes that are costly to fix. The second is that living\, as we have done up to now\, against nature is incompatible with survival. Thirdly\, the green transition is unavoidable and urgent\, difficult and not without its sacrifices\, but possible. DESCRIPTION:The European Green Activist Training (EGAT) is an international training program for young people (16-26 years old) culminating in a study visit to the European Parliament. The EGAT lasts between October 2020 and March 2021. During this time\, participants will take part in 3 e-learnings and 3 offline meetings\, during which they will learn how the European Parliament works and learn how to implement their own social projects. Finally\, they will receive microgrants and mentoring support to implement their own initiatives. \n1. SUMMARY:Green-Red Dialogues: Minimum Living Income – A Step Towards UBI?
DESCRIPTION:About the Event:\nCOVID-19 has once again put on the table the need for a change of model\, based on solidarity and equity for all European citizens. If we apply the same instruments that we have used up to now\, we are in danger of leaving many people behind\, creating a socially and economically unequal Europe. What model of Europe do we want? How can we ensure that people can live with dignity? How can we contribute to the creation of a social security system that works for all? How can we make it possible for people to live with dignity from their work without having to accept multiple jobs or over-exploitation? \nThe second Green-Red Dialogue will address the topic of Basic Income. The Green European Foundation has worked with experts on this topic for the past three years\, formulating “European Green Perspectives on Basic Income” together with several partner foundations including Fundacio Nous Horitzons. \nNow is a good time to present the conclusions of that research and put back on the agenda an issue that in the current crisis situation is more relevant than ever. The effects of the coronavirus have left much of the population excluded and the outlook for the coming years is not very encouraging. Current welfare and subsidy models have been shown to fall short both in protecting groups at risk of exclusion and encouraging economic development in Europe. \nAccording to experts in the field\, basic income could: improve the situation of people with a low purchasing power; prevent overexploitation\, job insecurity\, and illegal work; prevent fraud by companies against their employees; allow higher taxes to be levied on high incomes; and enable economic development through empowering groups at risk of exclusion by dignifying them and thus contributing to a fairer and more egalitarian society. \nThese and other questions will be addressed in this second discussion on Basic Income – featuring Pepe Fernández Albertos\, Aina Vidal\, and Philippe Van Parijs. \nContext:\nThis event is part of the Green Red Dialogues. The main purpose of this series of talks is to reflect on current issues from a green and social perspective. DESCRIPTION:About the Event:\nIf there’s one thing history has shown us\, it’s that there is no point reinventing the wheel – if someone else has a great idea\, steal it and implement it and improve upon it. This applies just as much to activism as everything else – across Europe and the world there are probably thousands of great just transition initiatives happening that could be implemented everywhere. This webinar will help with this issue – using interactive online software you’ll map out some of the best of these initiatives and be able to steal their best ideas. \nThis webinar aims at mapping youth-led initiatives that are leading the process of a just transition across Europe. We will use an interactive digital map to gather and explore input from Young Greens and for the production of the Green Principles for a just transition. \nParticipants will have some dedicated time to explore already mapped initiatives in groups divided based on focus (energy\, transport and food) and discuss with fellow youngsters whether these practices would be fit in their communities or not\, and why. \nWe will also be joined by two or three guest speakers who will share their experience of working on campaigning for a just transition from a youth and activist perspective and the challenges at the policy level. \nContext:\nThis webinar is part of the Green European Foundation’s Just Transition transnational project. The project looks into the question of transforming from an extractive to a regenerative economy in a just and equitable way to find the necessary support among the population. DESCRIPTION:About European Green Activist Training\nEGAT is a training programme for young people interested in European and national public and civil-green thinking. \nThe EGAT program is an educational\, organisational and community development training course. First and foremost\, we are looking for young people from 18 to 26 years of age who speak English and who are interested in European affairs\, but their way of thinking is close to sustainability and green politics. \nParticipants will take part in a 3-day training session on the weekend of 16-18th October and a later specified training on a Saturday in January 2021. We are looking for applicants from diverse backgrounds – youth aged 15-25 from all across Finland – and the most important thing we are looking for is motivation. \nDuring the European Green Activist Training\, you will be introduced to green values and activity from the local level to the national\, EU and international level. As a course participant\, you will hear from politicians and other professionals of the field\, discover how politics is made\, get a backstage pass to civil society organisations\, and discuss changemaking from an individual’s perspective. This course will give you the knowledge\, skills and support network you need to become a changemaker. You will find your own way to be an activist\, gain new friends and valuable experience. \nTentative programme\n1st meeting\, 10.-11.10.2020: Welcome to the training! \nDuring the first meeting we will get to know each other and have an introduction to the Green Party and Young Greens. The meeting is organised in cooperation with the Green European Foundation and we will discuss green politics and activism at various levels – including local\, national\, and international levels. \n2nd meeting\, 210\, 31.10.-1.11.2020: Local level politics \nLocal elections are coming up in Finland! Therefore it is useful to find out how local level politics works – in Finland and abroad. We will learn about local activism and how municipalities work. This training is organised in cooperation with the Green European Foundation. \n3rd meeting\, 25.11\, 28.-29.11. 2020: Civil society and NGOs \nCivil society organisations are a key player seeking to create change in the world\, be it environmental or climate justice or humanitarian crises. Provided that the epidemic situation allows it\, we will organise the January and February meetings physically in Helsinki\, in which case participants who came to these meetings will be charged 25 euros per meeting. SUMMARY:Call for participants - EGAT Poland
DESCRIPTION:The European Green Activist Training (EGAT) is an international training program for young people (16-26 years old) culminating in a study visit to the European Parliament. The EGAT lasts between October 2020 and March 2021. During this time\, participants will take part in 3 e-learnings and 3 offline meetings\, during which they will learn how the European Parliament works and learn how to implement their own social projects. Finally\, they will receive microgrants and mentoring support to implement their own initiatives. \nWho is the EGAT for?\n\nPersons aged 16-26\, both those who already have activist experience as well as those are taking their first steps in activism\,\nMembers of school climate strikes\, youth city councils\, youth organizations and associations or young people active in informal youth groups\,\nFor people who believe in values such as: respect for the natural environment and planetary boundaries\, human rights\, democracy and openness to others\, respect for people and animals\, regardless of their origin\, religion\, gender\, sexual orientation or social status.\nPeople who want to grow and make a change to the world around them.\n\nWhat awaits the participants of EGAT?\n1. Three online e-learning courses\, 2. Three offline meetings in various places in Poland (or online in the event of the second wave of the pandemic)\, 3. Small grants and support from mentors in the implementation of their own campaigns or local actions\, 4. Participation in a study visit to the European Parliament (might be postponed\, depending on the pandemic situation). \nEGAT schedule\n• October-November 2020 – e-learning and three offline meetings During the meetings participants will get to know each other\, establish new contacts and learn to plan actions and activities together. During e-learning\, they will learn about the structure and functioning of the European Parliament and deepen their knowledge on green topics.\n• December-February 2021 – implementation of own projects \nEnriched with new knowledge\, participants of EGAT will be able to start implementing their own ideas for action. In small teams (4-5 people) they will implement their projects of local activities or activities online. They will receive the support of mentors and mentors as well as microgrants to finance their ideas. Project implementation is not a mandatory element of the program. \n• March 2020 – a visit to the European Parliament Participants who complete all stages of the EGAT will take part in a visit to the European Parliament together with a hundred people from other countries where similar training takes place (Finland\, Czech Republic\, Croatia\, Hungary\, Spain). During 3 days\, they will visit the Parliament\, meet MEPs and take part in joint workshops with young activists from other countries. Participation in the study visit is not obligatory. \nParticipation costs\nThe Foundation covers the costs of participation in three offline meetings (including travel\, accommodation and meals)\, costs of local actions as well as the cost of participation in a study visit to the European Parliament (travel\, accommodation and meals). Thanks to funding from the European Parliament\, participants have to bear only 10% of the cost of participation in the training\, i.e. PLN 200. \nIn case of a difficult financial situation\, please contact us. We want everyone to be able to participate in the program\, regardless of their financial situation\, in accordance with green values\, therefore\, it is possible to cover this cost from the solidarity fund for people in difficult financial situation. \nSelection\nPlease fill in the recruitment form no later than September 4th\, 2020\, 24:00. Persons qualified for the second stage of the recruitment process will receive a short recruitment assignment to complete. DESCRIPTION:About the event\nChange begins by imagining this world differently. Can you? Are you interested in activism\, politics and public affairs in general? Become one of the 15 young active people and sign up! Participate in three-weekend training sessions in different corners of the Czech Republic and take an international study tour to Brussels. Starting with the first weekend in October\, in March 2020 we meet in Brussels with young people from Finland\, Hungary\, Spain\, Poland and Croatia\, who are undergoing similar training courses. \nWhat can you learn?\nHow to step into public space. We will discuss the various fields of politics together with activists\, journalists\, academics\, experts\, and politicians\, who come to the training. \nWe will awaken your sense of initiative and support your skills in the field of activism\, teamwork\, campaigning\, or work with the media. Together we will go through a whole range of approaches and tools that can change the world around.
