SUMMARY:Gender\, Construction of Sexuality\, and the Feminist and LGBTI+ Movement in the World and Turkey (Istanbul)
DESCRIPTION:About the Event:\nGEF together with the Green Thought Association is launching a year-long project on gender equality and green politics. Selected participants will participate in monthly expert and activist workshops\, building knowledge and creating video content on selected topics for wider dissemination. \nThe first workshop will be held on March 8th and will consist of a one-day seminar led by Dr. Nil Mutluer. The topic is: “Gender\, Construction of Sexuality\, and the Feminist and LGBTI+ Movement in the World and Turkey.” \nWorkshops are open to selected applicants only and will be held in Turkish\, but will culminate in a larger conference in October that includes the participation of international speakers as well. The project is part of the Gender Equality for Green Politics project\, organised in partnership with Green Thought Association. \nSpeakers:\nThe first seminar is led by Dr. Nil Mutluer. She is the Einstein Foundation Senior Scholar in the Diversity and Social Conflict Department at the Humboldt University of Berlin\, and has published extensively in the areas of diversity (gender\, ethnic and religious)\, nationalism\, migration\, memory studies and Turkish politics. \nPracticalities:\nParticipation in this seminar is free and open to selected applicants. It is open to trans and cis women. Participants must commit to contribute regularly and actively in all of the workshops as well the preparation for the conference in October. \nApply here by 27th February. \n\n

SUMMARY:Call for Participants: Art as Shelter (Tirana)
DESCRIPTION:About the event:\nGEF together with CDN is announcing a call for Participants for the international seminar ‘Art as Shelter’. The seminar will take place between 7th – 11th April in Tirana\, Albania. \nWe would like empower the participants with tools to broaden safe space and claim more private and political space through non-formal education and art. In particular\, we would like to: \n\nbuild understanding of patriarchy as a dominant power that operates in the society and feminism as a theory and strategy to challenge dominant power relations;\ncreate an intercultural safe space for young women\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer\, agender and intersex people to share their private and political struggles and to explore tools to counteract them;\nuse art to empower young women\, transgender\, non-binary\, genderqueer\, agender and intersex people to stand up against patriarchy and broaden the safe space by giving visibility to women* through art.\n\nThe programme will be based on the principles of non-formal education and intercultural learning. The project is the first phase of our annual work plan “Art for the Young\, the Queer\, the Feminists of Eastern Europe” . \n  \nPracticalities: \nCosts: The full cost of travel\, visa\, lodging (accommodation in multi-bed rooms\, vegetarian and vegan food\, and refreshments) will be covered. In exchange\, we ask for a participation fee of 20 EUR for participants coming from non-EU countries and 50 EUR for participants coming from EU countries. Applicants for whom paying this fee is an obstacle for participation\, should still apply and mention this in their application (not a selection criteria). \nCDN will reimburse 90% of the travel costs for the participants from the non-EU countries and 80% of travel costs for the participants coming from the EU countries\, within reasonable limits and within Europe\, with the condition to combine the most economic and environmentally friendly way (lowest price + travel time + CO2 emissions). \nDEADLINE for submitting online applications: 3rd of March 2020 at Midnight CET.  \n Apply here! \n  \n\nThis project is organised by the Green European Foundation with the support of Cooperation and Development Network Eastern Europe\, with the financial support of the European Parliament to the Green European Foundation\, and supported by the European Youth Foundation of Council of Europe. \nSubscribe to our monthly newsletter and make sure that you don’t miss other great opportunities! \n
