The Green European Foundation supports innovative approaches to economic sustainability in Europe and together with our European and national partners we aspire to contribute to the transition towards a green economy.

Within this field, we provide analysis of particular issues and explore case studies of successful initiatives with considerable impact on “greening” the European economy. This year, we address the Green approaches to work and sustainable jobs in the context of a post-growth economy, in parallel with the relationship between the commons and public authorities.

Green economy has been a core area of work for the Green European Foundation since its beginnings. Under the headline of the Green New Deal, a full series of studies has been developed between 2009 and 2014, addressing several aspects of this vast program of transformation of the economy: green jobs, state aid, the financial system, etc. Regional approaches and national case studies have also been a constant focus of the foundation, including through an innovative project started in 2015 in the Balkans. Finally, GEF is active in the avant-garde of the reflection on the creation of a society and the functioning of an economy beyond GDP growth.
