Foundation for Environment and Agriculture

The Foundation for Environment and Agriculture (FOSH) is one of the oldest non-governmental organizations in Bulgaria, registered under the Law on Persons and Families in 1990 immediately after the democratic changes.

In 2003, the Foundation registered as a non-profit legal entity for public benefit.
The seat of FOSZ is in the village of Lyubenovo, Nikopol municipality, but has also an office in Sofia. The village is located in Northern Bulgaria, 40 km north of Pleven and 12 km from the Danube River and the border with Romania. The territories of the municipalities of Nikopol and the neighboring municipality – Belene are part of the European ecological network “Natura 2000”, which includes the nature park “Persina”.

The Foundation works actively on environmental issues, both regionally and nationally and internationally. At the moment FOSZ develops and participates in projects for protection of the waters of the Danube River, biodiversity, renewable energy sources, Natura 2000 – restrictions and compensations, organic farming, information activities and trainings.
