Throughout 2019, GEF stared its work on environmental migration and displacement as a crucial issue of the present and the future that is at the intersection of two global challenges: progressing climate change and migratory movements.
GEF published a working paper and established an expert group on the subject. In January 2020, GEF hosted a Green Salon bringing together academic experts, policymakers from different political families as well as NGO representatives and provided a space for exchange of new ideas and deepened discussion.
Throughout 2020, GEF will continue to enrich the broader debate on the issue and to raise awareness on the challenges faced by the global community and possible responses by the EU and more specifically by the European Green movement.
