SUMMARY:European Green Activist Training (Finland)
DESCRIPTION:About European Green Activist Training (EGAT)\nDuring the EGAT course\, you will learn about Green values\, meet politicians and experts working at the frontline of fighting for positive change\, and of course connect with plenty of other like-minded young people! \nThe course will give you insights into the political decision-making processes on the national and European levels\, develop your skills as an activist to enact societal change\, and explore how Green values promote more equal and sustainable societies. \nThe training will consist of four training weekends in Finland and a one-week study trip to Brussels together with young activists from other European countries. \nFind out more about EGAT on the EGAT project page.  \nProgramme\nFirst Meeting \n\n11-13 October 2019 – Helsinki\, Finland: Welcome to the training!\nDuring the first meeting\, we will get to know each other and have an introduction to the Green Party and the Youn Greens.\nWe will discuss Green politics and activism at the local\, national and international levels.\n\nSecond Meeting \n\n22-24 November 2019 – TBC\, Finland: Europe\, EU and the Greens\nThe second training will discuss European and global politics. We will learn about decision-making and politics in the EU and the Green movement at the European level\, in preparation for the Brussels study trip.\n\nThird Meeting \n\n1 January – 2 February 2020 – Helsinki\, Finland: Climate and the Environment\nWe will discuss environmental and climate issues\, and the politics related to these issues. We shall consider what sustainability requires of society and familiarise ourselves with NGOs and grassroots organisations working in these fields.\n\nBrussels Study Trip \n\nEarly March 2020 (Exact dates TBC) – Brussels\, Belgium\nWe will travel to Brussels via bus and ferry. The whole trip will last a little more than one week in total. In Brussels\, we will meet MEPs\, connect with young Green activists from other European countries and learn about changemaking in an international context.\n\nFourth Meeting \n\n17-19 April 2020 – Helsinki\, Finland: Human Rights\, Equality and the Media\nIn this final meeting\, we will discuss human rights\, equality and how we can promote them. We will also explore the role of the media in our society. We will reflect on what has been learnt during the course and each participant will receive a diploma.\n\nPracticalities\nParticipation in all of the meetings is necessary to take part in the Brussels study trip. \nThe training costs €220 in total and includes travel and accomodation costs for the training sessions in Finland\, all materials\, and travel and accomodation costs in Brussels. \nHow to Apply\nApplicants must be 15-25 years old. \nWe encourage those who may not have previous experience with Green-related movements; membership of the Green party or other movements is not necessary to apply. \nWe are looking for young people with a strong will to learn and make and impact; motivation is the most important factor! \nWe encourage people from across Finland from all backgrounds to apply! \nPlease apply via this application form.  \nApplication deadline: Wednesday 11 September 23:59 \nThere are 25 places for the course. SUMMARY:Young Green Activist Training in Finland
DESCRIPTION:This event is a part of our transnational project “European Green Activists Training”\, which this year consists of training sessions for young Green activists from Czech Republic\, Finland\, Hungary\, Croatia and Malta. The participants will take part in: \n\nNational trainings on domestic politics\, as well as a session on European politics and institutions;\nStudy visit to Brussels in Spring 2018\, in which they will complement their training by experiencing the European political dimension first-hand.\n\nYoung Green Activist Training\nWe invite all young people between 15-25 years\, living in Finland\, who are interested in Green ideas\, European Union and change making in general. During this training the participants have a possibility to meet many politicians\, get to know methods of making impact on civil society and learn about making a better world on local\, national\, European and global level. The aim of these training sessions is to help the participants to find their own way of change making and inspire them to act. \nThis training will consist of five meetings through autumn 2017 in Finland\, each of them last for a weekend. This will be followed by a study trip to Brussels in the spring 2018. \nAs a special element of this training\, the participants will gain an exclusive access to our online course IMPACT EUROPE – which will enhance their critical understanding of the European Union\, provide them with an analytical overview of the Green movement in the context of contemporary politics at the European level\, as well as with insights into ways of generating political impact as a European citizen. \nDetailed programme and practical information is available here. \nThe Green European Foundation will contribute with a special session with the focus on Europe\, the EU and the Greens on 1st and 2nd December in Helsinki. During this occasion\, the participants will get familiar with the decision-making process and policies of the European Union and the activities of the Green Movement at the European level. \nParticipation\nThe training costs 200 euros\, including travel costs for all meetings\, along with material\, travel and accommodation in Brussels.
