Alexander Langer peacebuilder : Lessons and Legacies for Europe Today

October 17 - 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Join us this October for a special GEF Webinar: a gathering of experts and Green thinkers to reflect on the legacy of Alexander Langer. Together, we’ll explore what lessons his experiences offer for today’s turbulent times and how they can inspire the future of the Green movement.

About the event

On October 17th at 6:00 PM, we invite you to join the webinar “Alexander Langer Peacebuilder: Lessons and Legacies for Europe Today”, organized with the support of the Alexander Langer Foundation.

Marking the 30th anniversary of Langer’s passing, this event pays tribute to one of Europe’s most influential Green voices: a bridge-builder between communities, movements, and ideas. His message of peace and ecological responsibility remains highly relevant today. At this occasion, the Green European Journal recently published an article titled Alexander Langer, peacebuilder, revisiting his life, work, and passionate commitment to dialogue and reconciliation.

Building on this article, the webinar will explore Langer’s legacy and reflect on how his ideas and concrete actions can be applied today to promote ecological transition and peace in the context of contemporary Europe.

Speakers:

  • Dirk Vansintjan (Project Manager, former president Rescoop.eu)
  • Maria Giovanna Manieri (Secretary General Greens/EFA Group)
  • Paolo Bergamaschi (expert on Foreign Affairs, former advisor Greens/EFA Group – European Parliament)
  • Clara Bassan (PhD contemporary history; board member Alexander Langer Foundation)

Chair: Giulia Galera (Senior researcher Euricse; board member Alexander Langer Foundation)
