Our changing geopolitical landscape and the climate crisis have accentuated the fragility of European energy systems and confirmed the urgency of the green energy transition. At the same time, it is imperative to uphold one of the fundamental tenets of the European Green Deal, the commitment to a just transition, where ‘no person and no place will be left behind’.

About the event

This conference aims to spark a genuine and inclusive public debate about the future of the energy transition in Slovenia-which must prioritise safety, environmental sustainability and social equity. Presently, this debate is significantly influenced by the interests of Slovene energy companies which constrain the narrative in favour of fossil fuel and nuclear energy. In this context, the conference will explore the pivotal dimensions of energy security and other related energy concerns, to  envision a Slovenian energy sector that will serve its citizens’ needs and expectations.
