In Conversation With… Nicolae Ștefănuță

This year, we are introducing a new session format to the European Green Academy. In Conversation With… sessions offer a unique opportunity to connect with some of Europe’s leading Green and progressive actors in an intimate and informal setting. 

In these cosy gatherings, speakers will share their personal journeys, experiences, and motivations. You will get the opportunity to ask questions and gain deeper insights into the lives and work of inspiring leading actors who are at the forefront of pivotal struggles for the future of Europe.  

Nicolae ȘtefănuțăVice-President of the European Parliament; MEP, Green Group European Parliament

Nicu Ștefănuță is a progressive Romanian politician who has been serving as a Member of the European Parliament since 2019. Running as an independent for the 2024 European elections, Nicu Ștefănuță is now part of the Greens Group, serving also as Vice-president of the European Parliament. He is a graduate of the Georgetown University McCourt School of Public Policy, where he obtained a Master of policy management degree. He has a bachelor’s degree in economics, obtained in Timișoara, Romania and a master’s in advanced international studies at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, Austria and in European studies from the University of Vienna. He began his professional career working for the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Once Romania joined the European Union in 2007, Nicolae started his European career working for the European Parliament in various public policy areas, including budget and agriculture policy, as well as in the area of Transatlantic relations for the European Parliament’s Delegation for relations with the United States.

 

Moderator: Clare Taylor, Founder, Falconry Press

Clare Taylor is a science communicator, journalist, and policy analyst whose work centres on communicating ideas and policies for a better world. She is based in Brussels, working on media, advocacy and communications for sustainable energy and environment-related topics. Her clients include national governments and public agencies, European institutions, NGOs and industry associations. Clare is a co-founder of the global One Health Community and she holds a master’s degree in engineering science from Oxford University.
