Training
Training and capacity building lie at the core of GEF's mission. Through political ecology education, we help people develop the knowledge, skills and connections to shape the Green movement in Europe.

Background
Political education is about more than transferring knowledge. It creates the conditions for people from different countries, backgrounds and experiences to think together, challenge assumptions, test ideas, and build relationships that strengthen a shared European Green movement.
Through activist training, academies and summer schools, we bring together activists, thinkers, organisers, and political actors from across Europe to exchange ideas, reflect on common challenges, and develop new approaches. Our programmes combine political reflection with practical skills, ultimately striving to ensure that the green movement remains inclusive, future-facing, and grounded in shared values.
Alongside our training initiatives, we invest in learning methodologies, educational resources and networks that keep people connected, support continuous learning, and strengthen the Green movement across Europe.

Summer Schools 2026
GEF's contributions to summer schools across Europe help bridge the gap between local activism and European decision-making. They create spaces where activists, researchers, policymakers and engaged citizens from across Europe can come together to exchange ideas, learn from one another, and build lasting connections.
In 2026, GEF is present at summer schools in Poland, Czech Republic, Croatia.
